Health and diseases, parts of the body

Health
There are two types of health facilities in our country:state and private ones.Medical care is provided for our citizens from birth to death. There is prenatal care which includes medical check-ups before the child is born and then maternity ward services.Soon after birth each child is vaccinated against such illnesses as tuberculosis(TB), diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio and later smallpox. When we grow out of children`s diseases such as a cold, otisis, measles, mumps, rubeola or chicken-pox we do not have to go to the doctor so often. If you decide to go to the GP it is better to make an appointment in his surgery time. You must wait in the waiting room. Then the nurse says "Next please" and invites you to the consulting room(surgery). The nurse has to look for our medical record and wants to see our insurance card. The GP usually asks what the trouble is.He wants to know if we have a temperature, a good appetite and where we feel pain.Than he or she asks you to strip to the waist.GP examine your chest and throat. He listens your lungs and heart. He looks if the tonsils are red.Sometimes he checks the blood pressure, feels the puls, takes the blood count and throat culture or puts urine through lab tests. Finally, GP diagnoses the case and therapy and prescribes a medicine.Usually we have common infection such as flu, tonsilitis, bronchitis or pneumonia.Mostly we try to get over by staying in bed, taking pills, keeping warm, sweating, gargling and drinking herbal tea with honey or lemon. At the pharmacy(at the chemist´s in Britain) we can get anthibiothics, vitamins, pain relievers and gargle. In more serious cases we can call the doctor to our home or we may be taken to the hospital by an ambulance(for example heart attack) or helicopter(for car accidents). Usually, the patient is put on the stretcher and sometimes is necessary to give first aid such as mouth to mouth resuscitation, to stop bleeding or fix fractures.Sometimes they may X-ray our injury at a casualty ward (emergency room) or take tests before operation on the operating theatre(room). After operation scar often remains. However, there are fatal illnesses like cancer or AIDS which are incurable so far.We can keep our health by physical training, hardening our body through sport, sufficient sleep, wholesome food and avoiding alcohol, drugs, cigarettes and stress.
